KULOB, September 2, 2008, Asia-Plus — On Monday September 1, open joint-stock-company (OJSC) Kulobdehotsokhtmon (Kulob rural construction) completed construction of the off-take channel of a new small power plant in the suburb of Kulob, the Kulobdehotsokhtmon head Bobojon Pirakov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the new plant has been constructed in the place of the small power plant that had been constructed here in the 1970s country and his company has been granted a contract for rehabilitation of that plant.
“The small plant will generate up to 250 kWh of electricity per day, which will allow providing with electrical power not only residential buildings but also industrial enterprises of the city,” Pirakov said, noting that the project has been funded through small power units construction unit within the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI). The estimate budget for implementation of the project is $250,000.
The Kulobdehotsokhtmon head expressed confidence that the plant will start generating electricity in January 2009.
