DUSHANBE, September 6, 2008, Asia-Plus — The trail of the national of the Philippines, Ms. Garcia Joanna Gardovski (phonetically spelled), began in a court of Dushanbe’s Shohmansour district on September 4.
Proceedings started with the reading of the indictment, which charge her with illicit drug trafficking, crime attempt and contraband.
Justice Savriddin Toshev, taking in the trial, told Asia-Plus that Garcia Joanna Gardovski had intended to transport some three kilograms of heroin to Turkey by plane.
As it had been reported earlier, an inspection of passengers on the flight Dushanbe-Istanbul flight in late May found heroin hidden in luggage belonging to Garcia Joanna Gardovski citizen of Turkey and woman from the Philippines.
The operation of detention of the drug peddler was carried out by the customs officers in cooperation with the country’s security service.
