QRUGON TEPPA, September 10, 2008, Asia-Plus — Qalandar Sadruddinov, head of the organization of the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) for Khatlon, has suggested that the government should issue amnesty on occasion of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Sadruddinov said, “This year, even Israel has released six Muslim prison inmates on occasion of the month of Ramadan.” “It would be good if the government issues amnesty on occasion of the holy month of Ramadan,” said the leader of the IRPT for Khatlon. “We call on the president to issue a presidential pardon for members of our party and those convicted on charges of being members of various religious movements.”
Sadruddinov noted that he does not know the exact number of the IRPT members serving their sentences in penal colonies, “however, this number is enough.”
