DUSHANBE, September 11, 2008, Asia-Plus — Customs officers at the Dushanbe airport have stopped an attempt by drug courier to transport heroin to Russia.
According to Tajikistan’s Customs Service, an inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-Samara flight on September 10 found some two kilograms of heroin hidden in dried apricots belonging to the resident of GBAO’s Roshtqala district Bakhtiyor Junaydov.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Junaydov under the provisions of three articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 200 (illicit drug trafficking); Article 32 (criminal attempt); and Article 289 (contraband).
