Upper house of Tajik parliament to meet on September 17

DUSHANBE, September 11, 2008, Asia-Plus — The 16th session of the upper house (Majlisi Milli) of the Tajik parliament (Majlisi Oli) will be convened in Dushanbe on September 17 to consider laws adopted by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, an aide to speaker of the upper chamber, said that the session will consider changes and addenda made the country’s laws on citizenship, the Majlisi Oli, status of servicemen, state-run enterprises, and employee retirement Income security.  

Members of the Majlisi Milli will also consider a number of other laws concerning socioeconomic and cultural life of the country, the aide said.
