DUSHANBE, September 13, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Central Asia Corporate Governance Project of International Finance Corporation (IFC) jointly with the Global Corporate Governance Forum and the Reuters Foundation announce holding of the regional media-seminar in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
According to Muhiddin Tojiyev, acting PR-manager, IFC Central Asia Corporate Governance Project in Tajikistan, the media-seminar, formally titled “Coverage of the Corporate Issues in Central Asia and Caucasian Region” will be held in Almaty from October 15-17.
“A joint program of the Global Corporate Governance Forum and the Reuters Foundation is aimed at expanding journalists’ potential for coverage of the corporate governance issues,” the PR-manager said, noting that the seminar participants will discuss issues related to significance of the corporate governance for successful operation of company, reputation and attractiveness for investors, as well as problems of corporate governance in their countries and promotion of the best practices of the corporate governance.
The seminar will be conducted in interactive manner with participation of international journalists, experts in corporate governance, as well as representatives of the public and private sectors, Tojiyev said.
The Central Asia Corporate Governance Project helps local joint stock companies and banks strengthen their corporate governance practices with a view to improving their operations and increasing their ability to attract investment and financing. In addition, the project works with policymakers to improve the regulatory framework for corporate governance and increase the region”s overall investment climate and the business-enabling environment.
