DUSHANBE, September 18, 2008, Asia-Plus — Leader of the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) also deputy of the Majlisi Namoyadnagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), Mr. Muhiddin Kabiri, has started tour of Russia to meet Tajik labor migrants working there.
According to Hikmatullo Sayfullozoda, a spokesman for the IRPT, Kabiri today held meeting with Tajik labor migrants at Moscow’s Cherkizov market.
“The meeting was organized by the Public Association Javononi Ravshanfikri Tojikistion (Young Intellectuals of Tajikistan) and the Tajik Diaspora in Russia in partnership with the Tajik Embassy in Moscow,” the spokesman said, noting that the meeting was held within the framework of MPs meetings with their voters to report back to them on the work done.
On September 20-21, the IRPT leader will visit Ufa and Kazan, and on September 22, he will visit St. Petersburg.
“Labor migrants working in the Russian Federation make considerable part of Tajik electorate, and therefore, meetings with them are of significant importance for our parliamentarians,” Sayfullozoda said.
Activists of the IRPT currently working in the Russian Federation are accompanying Kabiri on his tour of Russia, according to him.
