Repairs to Dushanbe power and heat station to be finished in mid-October

Date:

DUSHANBE, September 26, 2008, Asia-Plus  – Repairs to the Dushanbe power and heat station are under way and expected to be finished in mid-October, Rahmatullo Qalandarov, engineer-in-chief with the station, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, Barqi Tojik power holding has allocated more than 3.2 million somoni for rehabilitation of the power and heat plant.    “We have repaired eight of nine energy piles of the plant so far,” Qalandarov said, noting that during this heating season, the station will wok only on fuel oil because natural-gas prices are too high.

Once rehabilitated, the Dushanbe power and heat station is expected to generate 180,000 kWh of electrical power and 270 gigacalories of heat per hour, the engineer-in-chief said.

He further added that they had stockpiled more than 10 tons of fuel oil so far and some 60 train cars with fuel oil from Iran and Turkmenistan are en route to Tajikistan.

Constructed in 1968, the Dushanbe power, with capacity of 198 megawatt, works on natural gas and use fuel oil as reserve fuel.
