DUSHANBE, October 2, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will finance six projects amounting to about 20,000 US dollars in the filed of art and culture in Tajikistan.
According to the Swiss Cooperation Office in Dushanbe, “Harakatu Barakat” Small Projects Fund of the Regional Art and Culture Program in Central Asia has approved six projects for the total amount of about US$20,000. These are as follows: Gypsies: nomads in search of happiness – conventions, rituals (of Luli); Piano Musical Notebook for children; Collection of Compositions: Zarrina Mirshakar; “Song of Flute” animation film; Contest of Fashion Designers; and Presentation of the Tajik Youth Theatre in the International Theatre Festival II in CA.
The “Gypsies: nomads in search of happiness – conventions, rituals (of Luli)” project, designed for six months, is implemented by Art Research Institute in northern Tajikistan. The project will research peculiarities of the traditional rituals of gypsies living in the North of Tajikistan. It will reveal the differences between the changes and conserved, contemporary and traditional orders in their rites and rituals, what plays an important role in discussion of the socially important issues. The project will produce a documentary film “The world of rites of Gypsies (Luli)”, the issues of gypsies will be discussed in a talk show on TV CM – 1.
The goal of the “Piano Musical Notebook for children” project, designed for 10 months, is to compile a book on musical notes in a way that is attractive to children of preschool age. Every musical note will be explained through colorful illustrations and accompanied by an interesting story. The book will be prepared in Tajik, Russian and English.
The “Collection of Composition: Zarrina Mirshakar” project is designed for five months. Ms. Zarrina Mirshakar is one of the most prominent female composers of Tajikistan, creating music for orchestra, piano, violin, etc. Most of the music she has composed is still in a manuscript. The project will compile the note collection of the best compositions of Z. Mirshakar. The musical notebook will be distributed among musical high/schools.
The “Song of Flute” animation film” project, designed for 10 months, is implemented by Animation Studio “Tasvir”. Tajik animator Bakhtiyor Qahhorov will produce manually drawn cartoons based on the short funny stories of Jaloliddin Roumi. The animation film will be called “The Song of the Flute”.
The “Contest of Fashion Designers” project, designed for six months, is implemented by Art Association “Art-albis.” A group of fashion designers of Technological University, Khujand Branch, will organize a competition of fashion designers from all over the country with master classes to be given by prominent fashion designers from CA region.
And the “Presentation of the Tajik Youth Theatre in the International Theatre Festival II in CA” project, designed for one month, is implemented by the Tajik Youth Theatre, which participated in the II International Theatre Festival in Almaty, Kazakhstan in September, 2008. The Harakatu Barakat Fund supported the preparation of the performance.
The Harakatu Barakat Fund (HBF) is one of the five components of the SDC Regional At and Culture Program which supports local initiatives in the field of art and culture since 2000. The projects are selected twice a year by the HBF Committee, composed of local and international experts based on the principle “Culture is not a luxury, it is life itself.”
