KULOB, October 3, 2008, Asia-Plus — Farmers in Danghara, one of five cotton-growing farms in Khatlon’s Kulob region, have reached 72.2 percent of this year’s cotton target by October 2 and there is hope that they will fulfill their target that has been determined at 6,200 tons of cotton, the source at the Danghara district administration said.
In all, five cotton-growing districts in the Kulob region of Khatlon have yielded 44,322 tons of cotton by October 2, which is 55.86 percent of the target. Their target is 79,350 tons of cotton this year.
According to the Kulob agriculture directorate, the Vose district has reached 69.1 percent of the target so far, Kulob – 64.07 percent, Farkhor – 50 percent and Hamadoni – 34.5 percent.
