KULOB October 3, 2008, Asia-Plus — A man has been jailed for 25 years for raping and abusing his niece.
A court in Khatlon’s Muminobod district last week ruled that a 24-year-old resident of the village of Childukhtaron in Muminobod, Fayzali Gulov, be given a jail term of 25 years and that he should serve it in a high-security penal colony. The sentence followed his conviction on the charge of rape.
The source at the Muminobod court said that his victim, now 11, was first abused when she was about 9 raped at home when they were alone. Gulov had exploited his underage niece for his sexual gratification during two years. Gulov intimidated his niece so that she feared to tell even her mother what is happening.
