DUSHANBE, October 4, 2008, Asia-Plus — Friday afternoon, President Emomali Rahmon, who was on his three-day working trip to the Rasht Valley, visited the Jirgatol District, some 320 kilometer northeast of Dushanbe.
During his stay in the settlement of Vahdat, administrative center of Jirgatol, Rahmon attended ceremonies of an official opening of a new building of the district administration as well as new shopping center and market Barakat in the settlement.
The same day, he visited one of border units deployed on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border in Jirgatol to get acquainted with service and living conditions of border guards.
After that, he held a meeting the district administrators. Addressing the meeting, the president pointed to the necessity of developing the agrarian sector and small business lending in the district.
