KHUJAND, October 9, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Khujand-based Tajik-Iranian joint venture, Nikou-Khujand, has begun installing new equipment for spinning manufacture, according to the Khujand mayor’s office.
It will be the first line of this enterprise for processing cotton fiber. The rated capacity of the spinning room, which is expected to be introduced into operation by the end of this year, is up to 2,500 tons of fiber per year.
Upon introduction of the spinning workshop into operation, they will install equipment for the weaving workshop and then for the sewing workshops.
“Some 300-400 people are supposed to work with the new enterprise,” the source at the Khujand mayor’s office said, noting that an official opening of the joint venture was held in September this year.
