DUSHANBE, October 13, 2008, Asia-Plus — Issues related to inspection of facilities and sites of public assembly in Dushanbe for compliance with fire safety requirements were a major topic of an October 12 enlarged meeting of the Dushanbe administration, presided over by its head, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.
The meeting participants included senior representatives of the Dushanbe mayor’s office, Dushanbe-based universities, Dushanbe law enforcement authorities and heads of Dushanbe’s mahallas.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that Ubaidulloyev had expressed dissatisfaction with work of the Dushanbe firefighting service and heads of local enterprises and organizations on organizing fire-prevention measures. Over the first nine months of this year, 43 fires have been reported in the city, the mayor said.
He charged the Dushanbe firefighting service chief, Colonel Rahmon Ismoilov, to improve work on inspecting facilities for violation of the fire code and compliance with fire safety requirements.
The mayor also charged the Dushanbe electric systems to take measures to ensure regular electricity supplies to the firefighting units of the city.
Ubaidulloyev sacked director of Dushanbe’s Dehqon market. Rajabali Taghoyaliyev was relieved of the post of director of the Dehqon market for failing to take adequate measures to fill the market with food products. Besides, Qurbonkhouja Amirov was relieved of his post of the head of the road maintenance department within the Dushanbe mayor’s office for failure to implement mayor’s instruction of September 15, the spokesman said.
