11 foreigners expelled from Khatlon this year for illegally staying in the province

QURGHON TEPPA, October 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Eleven foreign citizens have been expelled from the Khatlon province since the beginning of this year for illegally staying in the province, Izatullo Ismoilov, the chief of the migration service within the Khatlon police directorate, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.    

According to him, 154 raids made by officers from the migration service jointly with other local law enforcement agencies since the beginning of this year have revealed 140 foreign citizens illegally staying in the province.  

“Most of them have failed to register with local relevant agencies,” said Ismoilov, “They have been fined a total of more than 70,000 somoni.”  

Since the beginning of this year, 4,321 foreign citizens have been registered in Khatlon, the migration service chief said.
