Dushanbe authorities intend to reduce number of Chinese-made economy minivans in the city

Date:

DUSHANBE, October 14, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Dushanbe municipal authorities intend to reduce the number of Chinese-made economy minivans, known to the Dushanbe residents as Tangem, running along the streets in the city.

The source at the Dushanbe mayor’s office said that the draft resolution had already been submitted for consideration to mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.  “The draft resolution was authored by heads of the municipal passenger transport services,” the source said, noting that the reason for reduction of the number of Tangems in Dushanbe is a low load of buses and trolleybuses.
