DUSHANBE, October 15, 2008, Asia-Plus — Tajik Defense Minister, Colonel-General Sherali Khayrulloyev is attending a session of the council of the CIS defense ministers that is opening in St. Petersburg, Russia today.
According to the Ministry of Defense (MoD), Khayrulloyev intends to hold a number of meetings with his ministerial counterparts from some CIS states on sidelines of the session.
The source at a Mod said that the CIS defense ministers’ session is aiming to consider some 20 issues related to military and military-technical cooperation between the CIS states, including the results of work carried out by the council in 2008 and the plan of actions for development of the military integration for 2009. A special attention is expected to be paid to improvement of the CIS unified air-defense system, the source said.
