KULOB, October 17, 2008, Asia-Plus — In January-September 2008, branches of five banks operating in Kulob have accepted 7.5 million somoni of dilapidated and damaged banknotes from the local population, Shamsuddin Saydaliyev, the head of the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), told Asia-Plus on Friday.
According to him, the dilapidated and damaged banknotes will be transferred to central bank for further destruction.
Saydaliyev also noted that over the first nine months of this year, labor migrants have remitted 160.257 million US dollars and 38,000 euros to banks in Kulob.
