QURGHON TEPPA/DUSHANBE, October 20, Asia-Plus — An agricultural center will be set up in Khatlon’s Jilikul district under financial support of the Japanese Embassy in Dushanbe, the Jilikul chairman Eshbouri Esanqulov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, construction of the center’s building will start already this week. A plot of 1.5 hectares has been allotted for construction of the agricultural center.
Esanqulov noted that two local specialists had been sent to Japan to take special training course. He added that the Japan’s diplomatic mission intended to support establishment of the enterprise for processing fruits in the district in the near future.
As it had been reported earlier, an agreement on establishment of agricultural centers in a number of districts of the country was reached at a meeting of Agriculture Minister Qosim Qosimov with Mr. Yoshihiro Nakayama, Charge D’Affaires, Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, in early July this year.
In the course of the talks, it was noted that a project aimed at promoting improvement of quality of farm produce with further export of it to other countries had been developed. The core of the program is to establish agricultural centers for training farmers. Such centers currently operate in Muminobod, Tojikobod and Tavildara districts. Similar centers will be established in Sughd’s Ayni and Isfara districts in the near future as well.
