Kazakh premier’s visit to Tajikistan postponed till early November

DUSHANBE, October 24, 2008, Asia-Plus  — An official visit of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Masimov to Tajikistan has been postponed till early November, according to the Kazakh Embassy in Dushanbe.  

As it had been reported earlier, Kazakh premier was supposed to arrive in Tajikistan for an official visit on October 23-24 to attend Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in Tajikistan, which are ongoing in Dushanbe.  

The source at the Kazakh Embassy said that Prime Minister Kari Masimov would pay an official visit to Tajikistan on November 6-7.  During his stay in Dushanbe, Kazakh premier is scheduled to hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon, Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and some other high-ranking Tajik state officials.  

According to data of the State Committee for Statistics, trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in January-September 2008 has valued at 206.5355 million US dollars, with Tajikistan’s imports from Kazakhstan estimated at more than 200 million dollars.
