DUSHANBE, October 29, 2008, Asia-Plus — On October 28, Sharif Said, the head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), met here with Mahmud Er, general manager of Turkey’s company for exhibitions, International Exhibitions, according to the CCI press service.
In the course of the talks, Mr. Er noted that his company was interested in investing in various branches of Tajikistan’s economy. The International Exhibitions has been engaged in organizing exhibitions in various countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kazakhstan, for more than ten years. The company has also invested in Kazakhstan’s construction sector.
Er also noted that to it was necessary to tackle some customs and tax problems and extend flights between Tajikistan and Turkey to promote full-fledged work of Turkish companies in Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the two also discussed the possibility of training of personnel for Tajik banking sector in Turkey, the press service said.
The CCI head noted that Tajikistan would like to enlist Turkey’s support towards preparation of Tajikistan’s joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). Sharif Said also proposed to organize an exhibition of Turkish goods and a forum of businesspeople of the two countries in Dushanbe in 2009.
