CIS TV and radio companies to set up interstate information pool

Date:

DUSHANBE, October 30, Asia-Plus  — A session of the council of heads of TV and radio organizations of the CIS states will be held in Moscow on October 31.

Marina Gutsalo, a spokeswoman for the CIS Executive Committee, told Asia-Plus today that the meeting is aiming to consider issues related to establishment of the CIS interstate information pool.

According to her, the information pool is expected to be based on the principles of TV information exchange: the latest news of the CIS member nations will be formed into information packages.

TV and radio companies of other companies will also be able to get these information packages but they will not be allowed making changes that would strain their sense.

The Mir Interstate TV and Radio Company is supposed to coordinate the mutual exchange of video materials.

The heads of the CIS TV and radio companies will also consider the implementation of joint television products, the issues related to the preparations and celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The session will also highlight the proposals for a comprehensive detailed plan of top-priority events in the humanitarian cooperation for 2009-2010 and other issues.

The council of the heads of the state-run and public TV and radio companies of the CIS states was founded in 2007 to promote expansion of cooperation between the CIS countries in TV and radio broadcasting.  Partaking in the work of the council are representatives of Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
