Orienbonk raises annual interest rates for short-term loans

DUSHANBE, October 30, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s largest commercial bank, Orienbonk, has made a decision to raise interest rates for the short-term loans beginning on November 1, 2008. 

Orienbonk’s press service reports that in the bank’s head office in Dushanbe, the highest interest rate for the short-term loans in the national currency will rise from 20 percent to 24 percent and for the short-term loans in foreign currency from 18 percent to 22 percent. 

The bank’s branches in the provinces will raise the highest interest rate for the short-term loans in national currency from 22 percent to 26 percent and for the short-term loans in foreign currency from 20 percent to 24 percent.

The decision to raise the interest rate is made to support implementation of the country’s monetary policy and make the most asked-for loans accessible, he press service said.
