Dushanbe mayor’s office decides to reduce number of Chinese-made economy minivans in the city

Date:

DUSHANBE, October 31, Asia-Plus  – Beginning on November 1, the number of Chinese-made economy minivans, known to the Dushanbe residents as Tangem and working as fixed-route taxies, will be reduced, first deputy Dushanbe mayor, Abdusalom Saulymonov, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on October 30.

According to him, these minivans will be prohibited from working as fixed-route taxies on the main roads of the city.  “They will be replaced by 120 Russian-made buses PAZ and 30 trolleybuses that will be delivered to the city soon,” the deputy mayor said, noting that such a decision had been made following application by the municipal passenger transport service.

We will recall that the source at the Dushanbe mayor’s office told Asia-Plus in early October that the reason for reduction of the number of Tangems in Dushanbe is a low load of buses and trolleybuses.
