KHOROG, November 1, 2008, Asia-Plus — A new school to accommodate 10 pupils opened in the village of Namadgut, GBAO’s Ishkashim district on October 31.
Speaking at the school-opening ceremony, the first deputy chairman of the Ishkashim district, Gavhar Bayonov, said that 420,000 somoni had been allocated from presidential reserve fund for construction of the school.
It is already the second school built in the district this year and construction of five other new schools is under way in Ishakshim. They are supposed to be finished next year.
According to the GBAO education directorate, three other educational facilities are currently being built in the region. Under government’s resolution, major repairs should be made to all educational facilities in Gorno Badakhshan by 2010.
