DUSHANBE, November 7, 2008, Asia-Plus — A session of the Tajik-Kazakh commission for economic cooperation has ended with signing of two documents, according to the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosComInvest).
The source at GosComInvest said that the 6th session of the Tajik-Kazakh commission for economic cooperation ended that was held in Dushanbe on November 5-6 had ended with signing of the cooperation protocol and the plan of actions for 2009-2011 to the program fro economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
Co-chaired by the GosComInvest head Farrukh Hamraliyev and Kazakh Minister for Environmental Protection Nurlan Iskakov, the session considered state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy and trade, science and technologies, culture and humanitarian partnership.
The session participants, in particular, considered issues related to mutual settlement of accounts, financing of joint investment projects, and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Tajikistan.
The session also discussed the progress of implementation of decisions made at the previous session.
During his stay in Dushanbe, Kazakh Minister for Environmental Protection Nurlan Iskakov also held talks with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov, the GosComInvest source said.
According to data of the State Committee for Statistics, a trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in January-September 2008 has valued at US$206.535 million. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Kazakhstan estimated at US$6.47 million and Tajikistan’s imports from Kazakhstan worth US$200.65 million.
