QURGHON TEPPA, November 27, 2008, Asia-Plus — Farmers in Khatlon’s Jomi district have reached 53 percent of this year’s autumn sowing target so far, according to the Jomi agriculture department.
This year, local farmers have planned to carry out autumn sowing campaign on an area of 4,300 hectares, whoever, winter crops and vegetables have been planted only on 2,156 hectares to this date.
Of those 2, 156 hectares, 2,106 hectares have been sown with winter grains, 35 hectares with oats and other feed crops. Besides, Jomi farmers have planted vegetables on 57 hectares; areas under vegetables are expected to be extended to 268 hectares.
