Fares for passenger transportations services in Sughd lowered by 14 percent

KHUJAND, December 23, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Fares for passenger transportation services in the Sughd province has been lowered by 14 percent, according to the Sughd economic development and antimonopoly policy directorate.

In Khujand, the fare on minivan working on gasoline and liquefied gas has been lowered from 70 dirams to 60 dirams, with similar price falls in suburbs.  Fares for minivans running on natural and gas and diesel fuel has been lowered as well.

“The passenger transportation service fares have been decreased following decrease in gasoline and diesel fuel prices,” the source said, “A special group has been set up for monitoring the gasoline price situation in the province.  The commission consisted of representatives of the regional administration and other state institutions.  An average price of one liter of gasoline in Sughd is now 2.00 somoni, while one liter of diesel fuel costs 2.40 somoni.”
