DUSHANBE, July 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the GBAO counternarcotics directorate, detained Afghan national Iskandar waladi Shoniyoz, when he was illegally crossing the Panj River near the village of Niwodak in the Shugnan district late Saturday, according to press service of the Drug Control Agency (DCA).

A sack of narcotic drug that was tested positive to hashish weighing 18.4 kilograms was confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the Afghan drug trafficker and an investigation is under way.
