Tajikistan’s power plants generate 5.906 bln kWh of electricity in H109

DUSHANBE, July 28, 2009, Asia-Plus  — In January-June this year, sub-divisions of Barqi Tojik power holding have generated 5.906 billion kWh of electrical power, which is 11.4 percent fewer than in the same period of last year, the Barqi Tojik top manager Sanat Rahimov told reporters in Dushanbe on July 27.

Over the first half-year of 2008, Barqi Tojik’s sub-divisions produced 6.582 kWh of electrical power, Rahimov said.

He noted that Russian-built Sangtuda-1 power plant has generated 773 million kWh of electricity over the same six-month period, which is 488 million kWh more than in the same period of 2008.

We will recall that electrical power accounted for 4.7 percent of Tajikistan’s external trade turnover in the report period.  In January-June this year, Tajikistan has exported 1.7487 billion kWh of electricity for 27.2 million U.S. dollars.  Over the same four-month period, Tajikistan has imported 2.5319 billion kWh of electrical power for 49.3 million U.S. dollars.
