CIS senior experts discuss strategy of economic development of the material reserves agencies

DUSHANBE, August 4, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The fourth meeting of the CIS council of heads of the agencies for management of the state materials reserves is being held in Dushanbe today.

All the CIS member nations, except Georgia and Turkmenistan, are participating at the meeting that is considering the strategy of economic development of the CIS material reserves agencies for period until 2017.

Inaugurating the meeting, Tajik Deputy Prime Minister, Murodali Alimardon, noted that the Material Reserves Agency under the Government of Tajikistan was established in April 2008.

Over this short period, the agency, however, managed to solve the main organizing issues connected with improvement of the material and technical basis and legal foundation as well as cooperation with other state bodies, first of all the ministry of finance, on the state material reserves problems, Tajik official said.    

The material reserves agency is a government agency in the sphere of economic measures for emergencies, oil security, etc.  It fulfills the tasks in the area of reserves management of raw materials, materials, agricultural products, oil products, etc.

The consultative council of the CIS material reserves agency heads was established in 2004.
