KHOROG, September 1, 2009, Asia-Plus  — An archive for biography of  known Soviet statesman of the 1930s, Hero of Tajikistan Shirinsho Shotemur has been replenished with new interesting documents and documentaries, Tajik journalist Qurbon Alamshoyev said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, he found new documents and three documentaries of the 1930s, in which Shirinsho Shotemur appeared, while working in the Russian national movie and photography archive n Krasnogorsk.

“One of those documentaries is about the 19th anniversary of the October Revolution in Dushanbe in 1936, the other one is about delegates of the 1930 Party Congress at the Kazan Railway Station in Moscow and the third documentary is about the exhibition of Tajikistan’s economic achievements that was held in the Porshnev village, Gorno Badakhshan  in 1936,” Alamshoyev said.

The survey is dedicated to the 110th birthday of Shirinsho Shotemur that will be marked this year.

According to Alamshoyev, he found two letters by Shinsho Shotemur to Stalin.  “The first letter is about political, national and cultural rights of the Tajiks and the second one is about the necessity of establishing separate Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic within the USSR,” the journalist said, noting that the found documents will be used for publishing a series of books about Shinsho Shotemur.

Shinsho Shotemur, known Tajik Soviet statesman, was born in the village of Porshnev, GBAO’s Shugnan district on December 1, 18999.  He was one of the main organizers of the Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and directed his efforts to this goal and gave his life for achievement of this goal. Shotemur was arrested in 1937 following fabricated charge of participation in the anti-Soviet nationalistic organization.  He was executed by shooting on October 27, 1937.  Shirinsho Shotemur was buried at the Donskoy cemetery in Moscow.  He was fully exonerated on August 11, 1956.

Shirinsho Shotemur along with Nusratullo Makhsum and other Tajik politicians of that period played an important role in gathering Tajikistan bit by bit.  Thus, Nusratullo Makhsum appealed to Stalin in a letter stating that the program of national-territorial reorganization was unfair and detrimental to their interests.  Together with Makhsum, Shirinsho Shotemur actively pursued a series of questions about the expansion of borders of the autonomous republic.  Great effort was made so that Khujand and its surrounding regions became part of present-day Tajikistan.

Along with Sadriddin Ayni, Bobojon Ghafurov and Nusratullo Makhsum, Shirinsho Shotemur was awarded as Hero of Tajikistan.
