JV Aprelevka distributes energy-saving light bulbs to vulnerable families in Qairoqqum

KHUJAND, September 10, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On occasion of the 18th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, Tajik-Canadian gold-mining joint venture, Aprelevka, has distributed 200 energy-saving light bulbs to 50 vulnerable families in the northern city of Qairoqqum, Asia-Plus has learned at the enterprise.

“Besides, the company employees have also visited another 40 vulnerable families in the city to distribute food products to them,” the source said.

The Tajik-Canadian gold-mining joint venture Aprelevka was established in the Sughd province of Tajikistan in 1995.  The company is engaged in mining and processing of ores at Aprelevka, Kyzyl-Cheku, Burgunda, Ekiljon and other small deposits in northern Tajikistan.  Dore alloy is the finished product of this enterprise.  Tajikistan owns 51 percent of the shares and the Canadian company Gulf International Minerals assumes the 49% ownership interest in the joint-stock company Aprelevka.
