DUSHANBE, September 22, 2009, Asia-Plus — The World Bank’s Team is currently discussing a new Country Assistance Strategy (CAS) for Tajikistan.
According to the World Bank Dushanbe Office, the proposed program will provide financial assistance to Tajikistan in the amount of 161 million U.S. dollars, IDA (International Development Assistance) is $117 million and additional Trust Funds $44 million, for 2010- 2013.
The CAS defines a program of activities that the Government of Tajikistan, the World Bank will be working in partnership with other development actors in the country. These activities will focus on social protection, private and financial sectors, agriculture, energy and climate change.
The CAS preparation is based on a participatory approach built on inputs from consultations with various development actors in the country (central and local government, Parliament, donors, civil society organizations and media) in Dushanbe, Khatlon, Sughd and GBAO. The consultations allowed a rich exchange of views and engaged participants in an open and constructive dialogue with all social and economic actors about a strategic development vision of the country.
