Turkmenistan’s delegation heads to Iran to discuss cooperation in oil and gas and transport sectors

Date:

A delegation of managers and specialists of line ministries of Turkmenistan has left for Iran to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas and transport sectors. The high-profile delegation is headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Baymyrat Hojamuhammedov.

“The economic cooperation with Iran is currently reaching a qualitatively new level that will fully use the potential of mutually beneficial partnership,” Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a cabinet meeting on October 30.

According to him, the commissioning in December of a new gas pipeline, which is meant to significantly increase exports of Turkmen natural gas to neighboring countries, will be a significant step in this direction. “The international transport corridor North-South, which is currently under construction, will also open great opportunities for expanding the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation,” the Turkmen leader said.
