KULOB, November 16, 2009, Asia-Plus — 8,641,134 somoni of dilapidated banknotes have been immobilized in ten districts of Khatlon’s Kulob zone over the first ten months of this year, Safarali Saidov, the acting head of the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Kulob, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the major part of the dilapidated banknotes was immobilized through the branches of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) and Agroinvestbonk in the area.
“Amonabonk’s branches have replaced 1,395,596 somoni of the dilapidated banknotes with the new ones over the report period and Agroinvestbonk’s branch has replaced 5,405,310 somoni of the dilapidated banknotes,” Saidov said.
