KHOROG, February 15, 2010, Asia-Plus — A meeting of candidates for parliament with representatives of political parties, local public associations and a number of bodies of local authorities took place in the Vanj district of Gorno Badakhshan on February 12.

According to Sanavbarsho Rajabov, head of the electoral commission for Vanj single-mandate constituency # 40, former chairman of the Vanj district Nazrullo Jonov, nominated by the People’s Democratic Party (PDPT), Mamadrahim Kuzov, nominated by the Islamic Revival Part (IRPT), and two self-propelled candidates – Shamsmuhammad Nazriyev (head of Badakhshonroh) and Niyozbek Ramazonov (head of the construction department of the Shugnan district) – who are competing for a seat in the parliament in this constituency as well as Felali Felaliyev and Bibidavlat Afzalshoyeva, nominated by the PDPT for election through a proportional, party list system, acquainted those present with their election programs and their parties platforms.
