3,206 crimes registered in Tajikistan in Q110

DUSHANBE, April 13, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Over the first three months of this year, 3,206 crimes have been registered in Tajikistan, which is 3.8 percent fewer than in the same period last year, Tajik Prosecutor-General Sherkhon Salimzoda announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on Aril 13.

According to him, there were 581 serious crimes report over the report period, which is 97 cases fewer than in January-March 2009.  The number of crimes committed by organized criminal groups has decreased from 14 in January-March 2009 to 10.

In the meantime, the number of killings has increased from 15 to 40 and the number of crimes committed by minors has increased from 179 to 231.

The number of reported crimes involving acquisition, storage, transportation, and use of drugs has increased from 184 in January-March 2009 to 245, Tajik chief prosecutor noted.
