Pakistan’s economy has urgent needs in Tajik electric power, says Pakistani official

DUSHANBE, July 20, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Pakistan is interested in implementation of projects for construction of highways and railway links that would connect Tajikistan and Pakistan, Mr. Saleem H. Mandviwala, Minister of State/Chairman, Board of Investment (BOI), of Pakistan, told reporters in Dushanbe yesterday after a meeting with President Emomali Rahmon.

According to him, a Tajik-Pakistani business that took place here yesterday discussed cooperation between the two countries in producing cement and pharmaceutical products in Tajikistan.

“Pakistan has urgent needs in Tajik electric power, which is in surplus in the summer period,” Mr. Saleem H. Mandviwala noted.

According to him, the main purpose of the visit of Pakistan delegation to Tajikistan was reached as “business communities of the two countries found new ways of cooperation in the fields of trade and economy.”
