KHOROG, July 22, 2010, Asia-Plus — In a report released at a press conference in Khorog, the deputy chief of the GBAO anticorruption directorate, Mamadnazar Mansourov, revealed on July 20 that according to findings by the anticorruption directorate, corruption has cost the region at some 1.8 million somoni in January-June this year, which is 2.2 times, or 980,000 somoni, more than in the same period last year.
“Cases of monetary deficit and embezzlement or misappropriation for a total of 575,900 somoni, negligent use of state funds for 492,000 somoni, and illegal privatization or lease of state property for 493,300 somoni have been revealed in the region over the report period,” he said, noting that 136,000 somoni have been reimbursed.
According to him, materials of 21 cases of violation of financial discipline for more than 1.6 million somoni have been submitted for consideration to relevant law enforcement bodies of the region.
