DUSHANBE, August 26, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Muhiddin Kabiri, the leader of the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRPT), yesterday met with Ambassador Eduard Auer, Head of Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Tajikistan, Asia-plus has learned at IRPT’s headquarters in Dushanbe.

In the course of the talks, Kabiri pointed out the significance of cooperation of the European Union with civil society of Tajikistan and underlined the necessity of further expansion of that cooperation.

“The IRPT leader expressed satisfaction with efforts of the government to raise culture of Tajik society; he noted, however, that unfortunately, there are some shortcomings and oversights that must be removed,” the source said.

Ambassador Auer, for his part, stressed the significance of existing constructive dialogue between IRPT and the government that will promote development of cultural society in Tajikistan, he added.

According to the source, the sides expressed hope that cooperation of the EU with political parties and civil society of Tajikistan would expand in the future as well.
