CA youth to share their skills and experience at DYCA 2010 forum in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, October 29, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Central Asian youth will share their skills and experience at the third regional forum, Digital Youth of Central Asia (DYCA), that has opened in Dushanbe today, the DYCA forum manager, Ms. Madina Sharipova, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to her, youth forums are one of ways of involving youth in developing Internet and information technologies.  “They will be able to share their skills and experiences in using information technologies in their activities at international level,” said Ms. Sharipova, “Internet has become a proving ground for developing various start-up projects of both social and entrepreneurial direction as well as an instrument for exchange of experience.”

This has become possible due to widely developed social and blog platforms, search systems and variety choice of web-optimizing tools, she said, noting that youth from neighboring countries are very active in that area.

For his part, the program manager form the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Center, Jabbor Fattoyev, considers that new technologies are being introduced in Tajikistan faster than in other countries of the region, and thereby increasing demand for young and skilled personnel.  “Every country realizes significance of intellectual resources and tries to increase them,” said Fattoyev, “That is why Tajikistan has urgent needs in high skilled IT specialists.”

The forum that is being held from October 29 to October 31 is organized by the Center for Information Communication Technologies under financial support of the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan).  The partners in organization of the event are the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan, Independent School of Journalism “Tajikistan – 21st Century,” and the Branch of Moscow State University in Dushanbe.  The general partner is closed joint-stock company, TT-Mobile (MLT).

The event is taking part at the Branch of Moscow State University in Dushanbe and its participants  are considering issues related to use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by youth of the region.  They are also discussing access to information, use of Internet in rural and border areas of Tajikistan, development of electronic media, blogging, development of web-resources, organization of information security and so forth.

The main idea of the forum is to gather technically well-educated and active youth, and have them share ideas and experiences, create networks that will put the start for further mutual endeavors.

We will recall that similar forum took place in Dushanbe on December 5-6, 2009.
