DUSHANBE, October 29, 2010, Asia-Plus — The Dushanbe mayor’s office has allocated 4.5 million somoni to Barqi Tojik power holding (Tajik electricity supplier) for the purchase of natural gas for the Dushanbe CHP (Combined Heat and Power) plant, the First Deputy Dushanbe Mayor, Abdusattor Sulaymonov, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on October 28.
According to him, these funds will be spent to make prepayment to Tojiktransgaz (Tajik natural-gas distributor) for natural gas as the Dushanbe CHP-plant runs on natural gas and purchase 30 tons of fuel oil, which is used as backup fuel for the plant.
“More than 750 buildings in the city have been prepared for the heating season that will start on November 15,” the deputy mayor said.
Sulaymonov noted that if enough natural gas was supplied to the Dushanbe CHP-plant regularly, the plant was able to generate up to 2 million kWh of electric power per day. “Besides, the plant has stockpiled 16 tons of fuel oil to this day and another 30 ton of fuel oil will be purchased in the near future,” he added.
