DUSHANBE, November 10, 2010, Asia-Plus — To-date, Tajikistan has reached 85.4 percent of the autumn conscription target, Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon.
In the territorial cross section the percentage the target reached were: Gorno Badakhshan – 96.9 percent; Khatlon – 94.4 percent; districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) – 79.9 percent; Sughd – 78.2 percent; and Dushanbe – 81.8 percent.
A number of cities and districts have already fulfilled their conscription targets, the spokesman said.
The autumn conscription campaign is carried out from October through November, and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
