26-year-old terrorist sentenced to 28 years in prison

DUSHANBE, January 29, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The 26-year-old Halim Isoyev has got a jail term of 28 years for a bomb attempt.  An area outside headquarters of Russian military base in Dushanbe was the scene of a bombing attempt.

The Dushanbe city court sentenced the 26-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Vose district Halim Isoyev to 28 years in prison on January 27.  The sentence followed his conviction on charges of terrorism, organizing a criminal group and illegal storage of weapons.

We will recall that Halim Isoyev was detained in Dushanbe’s Girpozem area, not far from headquarters of Russian military base in Tajikistan on August 23, 2010.  According to Tajik law enforcement authorities, the RGD-5 hand grenade, substance like TNT and a mobile phone case were confiscated from him.  Besides, homemade explosive device consisting of electric detonator, mobile phone Sony-Ericsson, and 2.17 kilogram of aluminum powder were found his bag.  The device was stuffed with nails and screws to heighten the bomb”s power.

According to the data from the country’s power-wielding structures, Isoyev was trained at an extremist camp that was located in the village of Porvogh in Rasht district, eastern Tajikistan.
