DUSHANBE, February 4, 2011, Asia-Plus — Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office for Sughd have detained a drug peddler in Khujand.
According to the DCA press service, the 33-year-old resident Bobojonghafurov district, E.I., was detained on suspicion of drug pushing in Khujand on February 3. A package containing nearly one kilogram heroin was confiscated from him.
The alleged drug peddler has the previous conviction of theft (Article 224 (1) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code), the source said. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against E.I. and an investigation is under way.
