Tajikistan opens its second consulate general in Russia

DUSHANBE, February 19, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan has opened Consulate General in Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

Sodiq Imomov, who had previously been Advisor to the President of Tajikistan for Foreign Policy, has been appointed to head Tajikistan’s Consul-General in Ufa.

Besides, Parviz Asoyev, formerly deputy head of the Consular Department at Tajik MFA, has been appointed to head Tajikistan’s Consulate General in Yekaterinburg, the administrative center of Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast.  The Consulate General in Yekaterinburg was established on June 15, 2009

Tajikistan now has 22 embassies, three consulates in the Afghan cities of Kunduz, Mazar-i Sharif and Fayzabad, three consulates general (in Yekaterinburg and Ufa, Russia and in Dubai, United Arab Emirates), and two representative offices to international organizations.
