Tajikistan exports 44 mln kWh of electricity in Q1 2011

DUSHANBE, April 15, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan has exported some 44 million kWh of electricity for 914,300 U.S. dollars in January-March this year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

In March, Tajikistan reportedly exported 8 million kWh of electrical power.

Over the same three-month period, Tajikistan has imported 30.1 million kWh of electricity for 847,400 U.S. dollars.

Compared to January-March 2010 electricity exports have decreased by 20.6 percent and electricity imports have decreased by 78.8 percent.  

Tajikistan now generates on average 30 million kWh of electrical power per day, the source said.
