More than 30 companies participate at light industrial products fair in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, June 8, 2011, Asia-Plus — More than 30 companies from Russia, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, China and Turkey as well as Tajik enterprises are participating in an international light industrial products exhibition, InterLegProm 2011, which opened at the Kokhi Borbad State Complex in Dushanbe on June 7.

They have put on display their achievements in light industry technologies such as manufacturing equipment for processing cotton, leather, wool and cocoon, producing chemicals, accessory materials, knitted fabric and wear, threads, and footwear, manufacturing home and office furniture, as well as packaging and producing labels at the fair that runs through June 9.

Organized by Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) under support of the Government of Tajikistan, the exhibition is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence.

Inaugurating the fair, the CCI first deputy head, Asanali Karamaliyev, said the main objective of the event was in promoting expansion of trade and economic cooperation, attraction of investments for development of priority sectors of Tajikistan’s economy, establishment of new joint ventures and finding new partners.

Ms. Fatima Barati, chairperson of the Afghan Women’s Business Union, for her part, noted that such events promoted expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the neighboring countries and strengthening of fraternal and friendly relations between Tajiks and Afghans.  According to her, more than 20 Afghan craftswomen are participating at the fair in Dushanbe.
