Tajik minister holds a number of meetings in Ashgabat

DUSHANBE, June 9, 2011, Asia-Plus — On Thursday June 9, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov received Tajik Minister of Energy and Industries Gul Sherali.

According to the press office of the Ministry of Energy and Industries of Tajikistan, Turkmen president expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan and expressed hope that the results of the third session of the Tajik-Turkmen commission for trade and economic cooperation would give a new impulse to further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Tajik minister, for his part, reportedly noted that expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in fields of energy and industry provided benefits not only to the two countries but to the whole Central Asian region.

During his stay in Ashgabat, Gul Sherali also met with deputy heads of Turkmenistan’s Cabinet of Ministers in charge of oil-and-gas, energy, construction and transportation sectors.  Issues related to Turkmen fuel deliveries to Tajikistan, Tajik aluminum and marble shipments to Turkmenistan, rail and air cargo shipments and bilateral energy cooperation were among major topics of the meetings.

We will recall the Gul Sherali, who is also cochairman of the Tajik-Turkmen commission for trade and economic cooperation visited Ashgabat to attend the third meeting of the commission that took place there from June 8 to June 9.
